Zenlayer Acquires DAHO Networks, Ushering in a New Era of Global Cloud Networking Services

By | February 14, 2019

Acquisition combines DAHO’s technological prowess with Zenlayer’s operational excellence to take software-defined networking to the next level

Zenlayer, an edge cloud services provider, announced today that it has completed its acquisition of DAHO Networks, an award-winning startup focused on SDN (software-defined networking) and SD-WAN (software-defined wide area network).

Founded in 2015, DAHO Networks’ software-defined networking technologies and open APIs enable enterprises to instantly interconnect offices, data centers and public clouds. DAHO has received global recognition from Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) for its leadership in SD-WAN, service orchestration, service virtualization and service analytics. In addition, the company successfully deployed China’s first large-scale commercial SDN project.

This acquisition enhances Zenlayer’s edge cloud platform to provide on-demand computing and networking infrastructure to enterprises seeking to expand their global presence. With over 100 data centers and a 6.2 Tbps private IP backbone, Zenlayer helps businesses to reach 80 percent of the world’s Internet users in less than 25 milliseconds.

According to Gartner, as IoT becomes more prevalent, data processing will need to be closer to the edge for near-real-time feedback and business process optimization, and to avoid the costly impacts of latency and insufficient bandwidth. At the same time, the cloud and the edge are complementary, and organizations that use them together will benefit from the synergies of solutions that maximize the benefits of both centralized and decentralized models.

“With this acquisition, we have strengthened our capability to extend smart connectivity from the core to the edge. DAHO’s R&D competency will be a driving force behind our future networking innovations,” says Joe Zhu, Founder and CEO of Zenlayer. “I believe that it should be simple for enterprises to globalize their business and reach their users anywhere in the world. The era of waiting for months to deploy servers or private lines in another country is over. We are building a hyper-converged infrastructure that makes digital globalization as simple as clicking a button.”
